In 2008, Steve managed Florida for President Barack Obama, running the largest political operation in Florida history and delivering the state’s electoral votes to the Democratic nominee for President for only the third time in thirty years. In 2010, Schale was a Senior Advisor to Alex Sink, the Florida Democratic nominee for Governor and Dan Gelber, the Florida Democratic nominee for Attorney General.
Prior to joining the Obama team, Steve ran the Florida Democratic Party’s House Democratic Caucus. During his tenure, Democrats picked off nine Republican seats in the state house, the party’s biggest gain in over forty years. Throughout his thirteen year Florida political career, Steve has been a part of more than 20 political victories at all levels of the ballot. Steve has also worked as the Communications Director for the House Democratic Caucus and spent six years as the top aide to former Florida House Democratic Leader Doug Wiles.
Steve lives in Tallahassee with his wife Nikole, who is an executive with the American Heart Association, and their two dogs. He is a graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN, where he earned a degree in History and Political Science and played on the golf team, and recently received his Masters from Florida State University’s College of Communications.
In 2009, Steve was named one of Florida’s “100 Movers and Shakers” by Florida International Magazine and in early 2010, was named one of the ten most influential Democrats in Florida by Politics Magazine.
