JoyAnna Hopper, Assistant Professor of Politics, will present an interdisciplinary panel on environmental racism on Monday, 3/5 at 5:00 PM in Gailor Auditorium. Professor Hopper will speak to the problems that environmental injustices pose for democracy.
This is an event hosted by student sustainability fellows who are hoping to start and maintain a conversation about environmental ethics on Sewanee's campus.
Transitional Justice Poster Presentation
On Tuesday, December 11th, 2017, from 1:30-2:45 p.m. in the Torian Room, the students in Transitional Justice will present their poster presentation of the group's conclusions of their project.
The final project required the students to create a multiple stage project proposing transitional justice mechanisms for dealing with the past in the case of the United States. In line with the University's project on the legacy of slavery, they have applied their recommendations to the legacy of slavery, Jim Crow era crimes, and/or some post-Jim Crow era harms that have impacted the African American community.
Please come and experience this wonderful event as they share their research and conclusions.
