Carrie Skulley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics at Sewanee. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside in 2015. Dr. Skulley’s research and teaching interests focus on exploring the ways in which historically marginalized groups gain access to government. To gain a better understanding of these groups’ inclusion in (or exclusion from) government, Dr. Skulley examines the behavioral, electoral, and institutional conditions that make government more (or less) permeable. Dr. Skulley’s work appears in Political Research Quarterly and Politics, Groups, and Identities.

Dr. Skulley offers courses on introductory concepts in American politics, women and politics, race and ethnic politics, and research methods.
